What is stamped concrete?
It is concrete that is colored and stamped by many different patterns. From random stone to ashler slate, there are 10 different patterns in all and 50+ colors to choose from.
Is stamped concrete a new technology?
No. As a matter of fact, stamped concrete has been around for about 15 years. It is very common in the southern states but is gaining new popularity in the northern states.
Does it really look like natural brick, pavers, or stone?
Yes it does, but again it depends on what company does your job. N.Z.S. Construction takes great pride in making all patterns look as real as possible to satisfy your needs and vision.
What colors and patterns can I choose from?
There are a variety of choices to choose from. You can view a selection of colors and patterns in our work gallery. For a complete presentation of options, please contact us.
What are the advantages over other surfaces like brick pavers?
One advantage that most people see right away is the maintenance. Once the patio is poured, stamped, and sealed, only a simple powerwash and re-seal will be required the following year. Brick pavers can become unleveled, grow algae between the bricks, and discolor. Stamped concrete avoids these problems and is the way to go. Oh yes, and I almost forget about the price! Stamped concrete is much more affordable than brick pavers, and the durability is still there.
What is the job process like for laying stamped concrete?
A solid base of 21A, crushed stone, then a good 4 inches of concrete within steel rods provide added support.
Can a polish be added to provide more shine?
Yes. A seal is provided at no extra charge to add to the beauty of the concrete.
How long does the cement last and will the color fade?
Concrete will last forever and so will the color. Re-sealing the concrete keeps the color shining for the life of the concrete.
Does it need to be maintained?
Yes, every year or two. This depends on how much shine and gloss you want on your concrete.
How does it hold through different weather conditions?
There's no need to worry about the weather with stamped concrete. It holds fine, just like any other concrete.
